Hi, I’m Tom and along with my HWLincs colleagues, I am looking to engage with Lincolnshire men to help make a difference and influence change.

This is our dedicated suicide prevention project page and will be updated with news and ways to get involved with our mission to prevent suicide in Lincolnshire and END THE TREND.

Tom Cassidy, HWLincs Contract and Project Officer

HWLincs wants men’s help to prevent suicides in Lincolnshire

More than 75% of suicides in Lincolnshire each year are by men – brothers, fathers, sons, uncles, husbands, colleagues, partners or friends. HWLincs wants to bring together a group of men aged 30+ to help create a suicide prevention campaign.

We aim to make suicide something we can talk about openly and end the trend in the increasing number of suicides in the county.

We are asking for the views and ideas of people who have been affected by suicide but are now ready to start to help others by steering and co-producing our campaign. Or you might be a group of friends who have been impacted by a suicide close to you and want to provide insight that may help others know there are alternative routes and make people more aware of the warning signs.

For this campaign to make a difference, your knowledge and experience is vital. Only by sharing what would have helped you, a friend or a loved one during a time of need can we help reduce the number of suicides in Lincolnshire.

The campaign we develop together will join a wider Lincolnshire County Council, Shine Lincolnshire and NHS Lincolnshire drive to support men through the Suicide Prevention Fund.

What will helping involve?

23/6/21 OFFLOAD CENTRAL

Ahead of our July launch, we are offering free, confidential one-to-one offload sessions for men aged 39-60 to talk openly without judgement. More information here.

10/5/21 SURVEY UPDATE
The survey is LIVEclick here to help develop a picture of life as a man in Lincolnshire in 2021. The survey will take around 2-5 minutes to complete.

Co-production groups
We will run two or three online sessions, each lasting no more than two hours between April and June. These sessions are one of the most important steps to ending male suicide as they will form the groundwork that shapes the END THE TREND campaign before it is shared with the wider Lincolnshire public. Because it’s so important we speak to men, aternatives to group sessions can be arranged if you would prefer. Options include text chat, phonecalls or whatever suits your needs.

There will also be optional online community groups for more casual chats and the chance to get to know each other. All interactions will be conducted without judgement and are flexible to fit around your availability.

If you can spare a few hours and feel you are ready to support please get in touch – your help will be so important to so many people.

Support will be available for anyone in need and our staff are trained to direct anyone who wants additional support to services that will be able to help.
