HWLincs receives £99,507 from the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund for care home recruitment study – job views sought
Lincolnshire engagement and insight charity HWLincs has received national funding to support care homes in Boston and East Lincolnshire with staff recruitment and retention.
HWLincs is one of only two Lincolnshire organisations to be awarded National Community Renewal Funding, supported by Lincolnshire County Council.
The challenges care homes face to ensure they recruit and retain the right people to deliver high quality care are well known. The funding will support care homes by taking a deep dive into the recruitment and retention of staff in one of the most needed sectors.
The care home working practices and barriers for recruitment and retention feasibility study will support homes in Boston and East Lincolnshire to make a significant change.
The study will help care home providers form an independent review of the workforce landscape and support them in new initiatives to revitalise recruitment. Providers will also receive free training for existing staff.
HWLincs CEO Sarah Fletcher said, “This is excellent news for our organisation, and we are thrilled to have qualified for the funding.
“This will help us to not only support several care homes but will enable us to gain key insights into the staffing concerns of the care home sector, and to support the implementation of new framework that will have a positive impact on such a fundamental area of our society.”
Cllr Wendy Bowkett, Executive Councillor for Adult Care at Lincolnshire County Council, added: “This project will be really valuable in understanding what the particular challenges are in Boston and East Lincolnshire in this key employment sector. With demand for care predicted to increase even further in future years, it’s important that we have the workforce we need, and the training available to providers.
“The council co-ordinated Lincolnshire’s bid to the Community Renewal Fund and selected projects from across the county that met the criteria set out by the Government, overall we have received around £800,000 from this fund for this bid.”
The UK Community Renewal Fund aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK to pilot programmes and new approaches to prepare for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It invests in skills, community and place, local business, and supporting people into employment.
